AGI Dermatics President to Present Clinical Data on DNA Repair as Treatment for Photoaging at Annual Photomedicine Society Meeting

Washington, DC (February 1, 2007) -- Daniel B. Yarosh, PhD, President, AGI Dermatics will deliver a scientific presentation at the annual conference of the Photomedicine Society today in Washington DC. The gathering of physicians, photobiologists and physicists coincides with the 65th annual meeting of the American Academy of Dermatology (February 2nd – 5th), where AGI Dermatics will be sponsoring four posters showcasing new clinical research in DNA repair and treatment of UV-induced photodamage in skin.

"Photoaging in skin is an extremely complex process and the genomic revolution has given us tools to understand UV-induced damage at the cellular level," said Dr. Yarosh. "Our research indicates that accelerating repair of DNA damage after UV exposure decreases the induction of collagen degrading enzymes and reduces signs of photoaging such as coarse wrinkles in vivo." Dr. Yarosh will present data on the use of DNA repair enzymes to inhibit molecular markers that trigger photoaging.

Dr. Yarosh, widely recognized as a pioneer in the science of DNA repair, is the author of more than 100 scientific papers and two dozen patents. He is an active participant in international photobiology societies and the New York biotechnology community.

AGI Dermatics, founded by Dr. Yarosh in 1985, has emerged as a world leader in DNA repair technology for skin and is best known for developing Dimericine®, a drug that is under clinical testing for treating patients with skin cancers and pre-cancers. AGI Dermatics is also the developer of Remergent, a doctor-dispensed skincare line based on the science of DNA repair.
